Connecting in Middlesex
by Amy Miller

Published in 'The Middlesex (VT) Newspaper' April edition.

Once each month a crew from Central Vermont Television (channel 23 out of Barre) drives up winding Center Road and takes a left on to Windlea Drive. Starting last fall, after a conversation with Tony Campos of New England Cooks, the show 'Connect with Amy Miller' became a reality. The purpose of the show is to empower individuals. The show discusses various ways to connect to our mind, body, soul and spirit. We explore the mind-body connection, journey down the path of enlightenment together, and have a little fun a long the way.

Two of Middlesex's own have been recent guests of the show. Martin Pincus, a yoga instructor, explained the philosophy of yoga and its value. Martin's show will be airing on CVTV April 21st. Jeri Martinez discussed her extensive knowledge in the field of domestic violence. She spoke about the experience of the victim/survivor of domestic violence. Jeri's show aired April 7th. Each show will air on a later date on channel 15 (ORCA). Check your local listings.

For the second time the filming of 'Connect' will be leaving Middlesex and going to the Barre Opera House. In January of this year, the show sponsored the guest, Joe Dispenza. Joe was featured in the docudrama 'What the Bleep Do We Know!?' and is author of Evolve Your Brain. The movie is about quantum physics, the science of possibilities. His book describes how to heal yourself and change your brain to better serve you. The evening was a huge success, with over 400 people in attendance. The frequent description by those in attendance was 'inspiring.'

April 19th, 2008, the New York Times Best Selling author Thomas Moore (author of 'Care of the Soul,' 'Dark Night of the Soul,' 'Soul Mates,' 'The Soul of Sex,' and many other books) will be joining 'Connect' at the Barre Opera House to discuss depression, betrayal, loss of meaning in our lives and how to create a soulful life in Modern America. The opening discussion will be one 30 minute show with Vermont's own Wendy Halley (author of 'Slaying the Mouse') discussing her experience in spirit medicine. All profits from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Ticket may be purchased by calling 802-476-8188 or online at BarreOperaHouse.org.
